After weeks of speculation, Mildred Baena, the mother of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s love child has spoken out in her first interview, with Hello! magazine.
The 50-year-old former housekeeper has spoken about the moment that Maria Shriver discovered the sordid secret that she had kept for almost 14 years.

‘Maria did ask me directly if Joseph was Arnold’s son and I just broke down,’ Guatemala-born Mildred says. ‘I dropped to my knees and I was crying, saying that, yes, he was and I was so sorry.’
‘She was so strong. She cried with me and told me to get off my knees.
‘We held each other and I told her it wasn’t Arnold’s fault, that it takes two. That is what I admired about her, her strength and the way she handled it.’
Mildred set the record straight, telling the magazine that she and Arnold had only a handful of encounters and that they were not involved in a lengthy affair. She also revealed that the former Californian Governor, 63, only learned that Joseph was his son recently.
He Looks A Little Like His Dad
Baena believes that suspicions were raised when she brought the 13-year-old over to the Schwarzenegger’s home last summer after a long absence.
There are a lot of physical similarities between the youngster and his biological father and Mildred says she thinks that Maria heard whispers after people in the house noted the likeliness.
The housekeeper, who worked for the family for 20 years, revealed to Hello! that Maria, 55, did question her indirectly on the topic before finally confronting her late last year.
‘She would say things like, “I’m here if you want to talk.” She would ask if I needed to talk to her and I kept saying no. Finally, she asked point blank.’
Strangely Shriver insisted that Mildred remain with the family until after the holidays, despite her offer to leave immediately.
Mildred and Joseph have been in hiding since the news went public, and are currently staying in a hotel in Phoenix.
Joseph, who bears a striking resemblance to his father, actually learned the truth a year ago, after his grandmother revealed the secret.
Rather than being shaken, Mildred says that his reaction was ‘Cool!’
Maria was seen out shopping in Malibu today with her son Christopher. The couple’s children have rallied around both their parents during the heartbreaking time, and have written messages of support on their public Twitter profiles.

Baena has nothing but sympathy for Schwarzenegger who has since taken responsibility, buying Baena and her son a house in Bakersfield and helping them financially.
“He’s a good man and I know he’s suffering too. He loves Maria. I hope with time they work things out,” she said.
